LOOKING OUT
Views out a window provide an enticing dichotomy for a painter: they present the contrasting elements of hard edges against the soft forms of nature, and the warm glow of the exterior with the cooler hues of the interior (or vice versa). They speak, too, to the contrast between our ordered, human lives and the freedom of nature. And as spring arrives, I can't help but think that these views also herald the transition upon us: from a season we spend mostly indoors to one in which we can venture back outside.
