SUNLIGHT ON THE TABLE

These paintings are about domestic pleasure, small moments of sweetness, and the objects that evoke a life. They feature familiar items—a glass, a patterned plate—that together tell a story. Books, letters, and paintbrushes nod to the creative life and the worlds that open up to us through art and literature. Arranged from above, all these objects are crossed by sun rays, making light and shadow part of the composition.

The addition of citrus draws from a long history in still life painting, where it suggests a subtle luxury. Citrus also carries a sense of ephemerality, fading quickly once cut. In my work, these fruits offer a spark of brightness within the ordinary.
